Oliver Johnson

about the artist

Oliver Johnson (he/him) is a young Portland artist and seventh grader at Kellogg Middle School with big creative dreams. An avid illustrator and storyteller, Oliver hopes to one day become an author and illustrator, creating imaginative worlds through both words and drawings.

A passionate fan of the Portland Pickles, Oliver can often be found around Walker Stadium during games. If you look closely, you might spot him drawing temporary tattoos for fans next to the Pickles tattoo truck, sharing his artwork with anyone willing to wear it for the night.

Oliver primarily works with pencil and enjoys the simple joy of drawing characters and scenes straight from his imagination. His creative inspirations range widely, from film composer John Williams and author Louis Sachar to his dog Billie.

Whether he’s sketching at home or at the ballpark, Oliver approaches art with curiosity, humor, and enthusiasm, always looking for the next idea to bring to life.

Poster

Oliver Johnson’s poster captures the electric, anything-can-happen energy of a Portland Pickles game at Walker Stadium.

Inspired by his own experiences in the stands, he fills the scene with lively fans, playful chaos, and larger-than-life moments, from a flaming baseball to animated characters cheering from every corner. His love for storytelling shines through in the expressive crowd and quirky details, each one feeling like a snapshot of a real game night.

Drawing primarily from imagination and observation, Oliver blends humor and action to create a world that feels both wild and familiar to Pickles fans. The design reflects his perspective as both an artist and a dedicated fan, celebrating the joy and unpredictability of the game. It’s a fun, high-energy tribute to the spirit of the Pickles and the community that surrounds them.

For Oliver, the inspiration behind his Pickles collection is simple:

Every Pickles game.

The atmosphere at Walker Stadium is full of excitement, energy, and unexpected moments, both on the field and in the stands. From big plays to crowd antics, there’s always something fun happening, and Oliver wanted his artwork to capture that lively spirit.

As a fan who regularly attends games, Oliver experiences the team from the same perspective as the crowd, so his designs reflect the joyful chaos, humor, and personality that make Pickles games such a unique Portland tradition.
