About the artist

Neon Black Tiger is a Portland-based artist known for his electrifying “Neon Terror” doodles, bold, chaotic reinterpretations of sports cards, athletes, musicians, and pop culture icons. His signature style transforms familiar figures into wild, high-energy characters using bright neon colors, snaggletooth fangs, and glowing white zombie eyes.

Working primarily on an iPad, Neon Black Tiger reimagines traditional sports card aesthetics with an over-the-top twist designed to stand out, especially in the kind of dollar-bin card boxes where forgotten heroes and oddball collectibles often live.

Poster

Neon Black Tiger’s poster for the Portland Pickles reimagines a classic baseball card through a chaotic, subversive lens, featuring Dillon T. Pickle front and center.

The familiar card layout is disrupted by exaggerated features, a sharp-toothed grin, and hyper-saturated neon colors that reflect his signature “Neon Terror” style.

Inspired by the cult legacy of the 1989 Fleer Billy Ripken “FF” card, the design embraces the idea that imperfections and oddities can become iconic. Details like the “DILL FACE” bat knob and Dillon’s unhinged expression turn the piece into a playful, rebellious take on sports nostalgia.

Shirt

Neon Black Tiger’s Pickles collection is inspired by one of the most legendary oddities in sports card history: the 1989 Fleer Billy Ripken “FF” card.

The infamous baseball card became a cult classic among collectors due to a hidden (and controversial) detail that turned the card into one of the most talked-about printing errors ever produced.

For Neon Black Tiger, that moment in sports card history perfectly captures the strange, rebellious, and unpredictable side of baseball culture. The idea of a collectible becoming famous for its accidental chaos felt like the perfect jumping-off point for a Pickles design.
